Dr. Stephynie Sargent
graduated with Honours from the New England College of Optometry Class of 2016 in Boston, MA. She is a local returning to her roots in Courtice, as she attended Courtice High before graduating from CCSS in Bowmanville. She completed her Undergraduate Degree with Honours in Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph in 2012 and held the President’s Scholarship throughout her studies.

Dr. Sargent enjoys providing eye care to patients of all ages, and had the opportunity to care for a variety of patients in her optometry school clinics. Her clinical externship sites included multiple Community Health Centres in Boston providing eye care to different underserved populations, Vermont’s White River Junction Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and two busy Toronto private practices. Each clinic provided her with a different experience in optometric care, including the opportunity to work under pediatric, geriatric and glaucoma specialists. She gained extensive experience with comprehensive care including therapeutic treatment of dry eye and conjunctivitis and specialty contact lens fittings.

She is excited to be back in Canada and Clarington to practice optometry and care for the people in her home community. She plans to continue volunteering with youth ages 10-21 as a 4-H leader in Durham East county, where she was a member for 10 years. Dr. Sargent spends some of her spare time still helping with chores on her family dairy farm, so don’t be surprised if you see a cow picture or two when you come into her exam room!
