Dr. Kimberly Avis was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario.

Dr. Avis completed her Bachelor of Science Honours degree at the University of Waterloo in 1997 before attending optometry school at the Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana.

Clinical externships included Laservue in Orlando, Florida, Commonwealth Eye Services in Lexington, Kentucky and Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Upon graduation from optometry school in 2001, Dr. Avis spent a year practicing in Edina, Minnesota before moving back to Ontario.

In 2004, she started her private practice in Oshawa, Ontario. In June 2012, Dr. Avis moved her practice to Courtice, Ontario to offer her patients a full scope optometric center.

She looks forward to welcoming all of her patients and meeting all of your eye care needs at her new facility!

Dr. Kimberly Avis is a member of the OAO (Ontario Association of Optometrists) and a member in good standing of the CAO (Canadian Association of Optometrists).
Dr. Stephynie Sargent graduated with Honours from the New England College of Optometry Class of 2016 in Boston, MA. She is a local returning to her roots in Courtice, as she attended Courtice High before graduating from CCSS in Bowmanville. She completed her Undergraduate Degree with Honours in Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph in 2012 and held the Presidentï's Scholarship throughout her studies.

Dr. Sargent enjoys providing eye care to patients of all ages, and had the opportunity to care for a variety of patients in her optometry school clinics. Her clinical externship sites included multiple Community Health Centres in Boston providing eye care to different underserved populations, Vermontï' s White River Junction Veteran's Affairs Medical Center and two busy Toronto private practices. Each clinic provided her with a different experience in optometric care, including the opportunity to work under pediatric, geriatric and glaucoma specialists. She gained extensive experience with comprehensive care including therapeutic treatment of dry eye and conjunctivitis and specialty contact lens fittings.

She is excited to be back in Canada and Clarington to practice optometry and care for the people in her home community. She plans to continue volunteering with youth ages 10-21 as a 4-H leader in Durham East county, where she was a member for 10 years. Dr. Sargent spends some of her spare time still helping with chores on her family dairy farm, so don't be surprised if you see a cow picture or two when you come into her exam room!

Dr. Heather Lane completed a bachelor's degree in biology at Burman University in Alberta before continuing her education at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science where she completed her Doctor of Optometry Degree.

During her time at the University of Waterloo Dr. Lane was involved in two optometry volunteer trips. She travelled with Volunteer Optometry Services for Humanity to Cap-Haitien, Haiti and with Canadian Vision Care to Montego Bay, Jamaica to provide free optometric services to locals with limited access to adequate eye care.

She also completed an ocular disease and therapeutics internship at the Jack. C Montgomery Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Muskogee Oklahoma.

As a local from the Durham Region Dr. Lane is happy she returned to the area and caring for her patient's needs.
